Approach
Amazon’s HQ2 in Arlington, Virginia embodies sustainability and community integration across a 2.1 million square foot campus of office towers, retail spaces, and a public park. As part of this highly visible, community-oriented development, the project required a cohesive environmental graphics system to support navigation while connecting employees to their surroundings and reinforcing Amazon’s culture and sense of place.

A strategy grounded in four design intents—Relate, Energize, Discover, and Celebrate—guides how users experience the environment. The design integrates wayfinding, branded elements, and moments of expression into a cohesive framework that introduces clarity, movement, and identity, while encouraging curiosity and a sense of belonging throughout the campus.

Outcome
The result is a cohesive and immersive environment that enhances navigation while reinforcing identity and connection to place. The graphics system supports intuitive wayfinding, enriches daily movement, and fosters a workplace experience that is engaging, inclusive, and reflective of Amazon’s culture and community presence.
